The design concept is inspired by a Hungarian board game where players must buy and furnish their home while learning about the consequences of spending and saving. The proposed design solution aims to educate and motivate first home buyers to develop financial stability through positive habit loops. To achieve this, the digital platform creates a stronger future time perspective by implementing features that encourage users to stay on track. For instance, strong data visualisation was considered to create a sense of progression. As the user is saving towards their deposit, their virtual home is gradually built too. The app also informs users about potential outcomes, such as total interest earned or estimated time of completion. When users hit significant milestones, such as reaching a savings target or paying off a portion of their debt they are rewarded. These include virtual badges that illustrates different rooms and home appliances. Using gamification, the concept aims to educate users in an engaging way while ensuring a stronger future time perspective. This approach helps users gain a clearer overview of their journey, making the goal of homeownership feel more realistic and attainable. While the main purpose of the app is to help first home buyers improve their financial wellbeing, it also aims to ease the stress and anxiety that often comes with long-term financial decisions. Thus, the solution addresses both financial and emotional aspects of the home buying process.
